ELLEN & FANNI
The first two people whose contribution we’d like to recognise have been some of the first faces of Urbanum that other students on our campuses have met. They’ve represented our young guild at events, clubs and councils, helping us network in the student community here. But their biggest contribution of all has been founding the basis for our tutoring work, first as tutor organisers themselves last fall, and continuing as mentors this year for the new tutor organisers. Without their hard work we wouldn’t have come as far as we have.
TIITUS HUHDANMÄKI
The next awardee has been available since day 1 and has nothing but time for all things fuksi. This person is a key member of our guild, and an important first link to university culture and traditions, as we started during Covid times when making these connections was nearly impossible. All this, despite not being in the SUD program, deserves recognition.
JENNA TUOMINEN
This person was described by one of their nominators as “a really fun, outgoing and supportive person who spends a lot of time helping the Urbanum community.” Indeed, they’ve dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort over the summer and this fall to ensuring that our tutoring not only happens but happens well. Her activeness in her role as tutor organiser and board member has been outstanding and we are very very thankful to have her in our ranks!
ROWAN VAN DER KAADEN & LAURI AHLQVIST
The next two award recipients have been working tirelessly on various Urbanum projects. Without their hard work and expertise we would be missing out on many cool things, from sponsorships and the Urbanum bot, to drink sales and important connections to the student community. Above all, they designed and led the guild room renovation and spent their summer months constructing a nice and comfortable space for our guild.
ESTER VÄISÄNEN
The next person we’d like to award is another all around active member of our community. They showed interest towards our budding operations early on in their time as a fuksi, not only partaking in events but also volunteering as a nakki. Since then, they’ve joined the board, and with their enthusiasm, helped Urbanum’s activity become more organised and established. Their resourcefulness has helped many to turn an idea into reality, which has been especially invaluable in our events sector.
Her commitment to Urbanum hasn’t ended with board work, as she’s also made herself available to our new fuksis as a tutor. In this role she was described as “incredibly helpful at every turn and she made the beginning of a new chapter easier for so many.”
She makes others feel that their work is important and cheers them on, so now it is our turn to show her how much we appreciate her enormous contribution to making Urbanum what we are today.
AURORA LUUKKANEN
Another award goes to a person who is described helpful and caring and giving their all under a heavy workload. One nominator simply wrote “She runs the joint”. Her efforts as a board member developing the events sector for the past two years have been priceless, and on top of that she’s our very own study counsellor, and that deserves recognition.
AKU PUSKALA
The final award goes to someone who has been with Urbanum from the start and has done so much for the guild this year and deserves recognition for his work.
